Hon Zaharaddeen Babba Mazoji an elder state man of PDP in Katsina state made this a known during a Media chat this week Mazoji said, “To me, it could be argued that her appointment is a form of service to the nation. She may be required to be subjected to the rule of the NYSC to attract no further remuneration beyond what is payable under the NYSC Act to an average corps member. The issue of prosecution or other things may not arise.”
He said, “ From what we understand, It is not a criminal offence; I don’t know why a respected arms in judiciary and human rights activist will continue cry on it. What NYSC act says is very clear. It says that service is compulsory for every Nigerian who has graduated from school. What she has done is nothing criminal. There is nothing in the Nigerian law that says some one like her cannot become a minister.
“Zaharaddeen Babba Mazoji advice the noise makers to refer toSection 147(5) of the 1999 Constitution states the qualifications for anyone to be appointed as a minister. It states that no one should do so unless he is qualified to be elected as a member of the House of Representatives. What are the disqualifications or qualifications for a member of the House of Representatives? You will find the disqualification provisions in Section 66, and none of this applies to Barrister Hannatu Musawa..
According to Mazoji, her appointment is a form of service to the nation. she might not be prosecuted for the matter at hand.
